These days, social networking services such as SNS Instagram, Facebook Reels, TikTok, and YouTube are popular to follow the so-called S.No.Fa dance (an abbreviation for Street Senior Fighter Dance). Regardless of age or gender, there are various places such as schools, offices, mountain tops, rice fields, company dinners, streets, and living rooms in the house.

Once you watch the video, it's very funny, and those who participate in the video try to ruin themselves as much as possible.

The next day the lady came out on the street. After repeating the unprovoked dance for three days, other people flocked to dance with her. The "group dance" continued for more than a week and the worse authorities intervened.
Dance became more and more contagious. Records show that 400 people have been infected in a month. Authorities closed the dance hall and banned dancing at all except for exceptional events such as weddings.
It is said that the dance transmission in Strasbourg lasted for about a month. What was the cause?

요즈음 사회연결망서비스 SNS 인스타그램 , 페이스북 릴스 , 틱톡 , 유트브등을 통해서 이른바 스.노.파 댄스( 스트릿트 노인 파이터 댄스의 준말 ) 따라히기가 열풍이다. 남녀노소 막론하고 학교, 사무실, 산 꼭대기 , 논밭 들판 , 회식장소, 길거리, 집안 거실 등 장소도 다양하다.
80년대 초반 전영록 가수가 불렀던 " 불티" 라는 노래를 배경으로 적게는 2명 많게는 30여명 정도가 정해진 규칙은 없으나 대부분 엇비슷한 형태의 동작으로 막춤을 추는 영상이다. 일단 영상을 보게 되면 매우 웃긴다. 그리고 영상에 참여해 막춤을 추는 사람들은 자신을 최대한 망가트릴려고 노력한다.
이러한 현상은 예전 부터도 두달 만에 1억5000만번의 유튜브 조회수를 기록한 ‘강남스타일 처럼 온라인상에서 유행병 처럼 존재해왔고 앞으로도 그러할것이라고 본다. 그렇다면 이러한 집단 막춤을 따라하며 인터네트 영상을 올리는 SNS 막춤 바이러스 현상의 원인은 어디에서 찾을수 있을까? 필자는 다음과 같이 두가지 이유에서 그 원인을 찾을수 있다고 생각한다.
첫번째로 그동안 억눌려오고 통제 당해왔던 구속에서의 해방감 표출 이라고 본다. 전세계적으로 휘몰아쳤던 3년간의 Covid19 여파로 인해 우리 사회는 백신과 마스크 그리고 사회적 격리라는 통제에서 이제 서서히 해방되어 일상사회생활로 접어드는 시기적 영향을 받은 해방감의 표출 이라고 본다.
두번째로 사회가 정치적으로 불안정하거나 경제적으로 궁핍할때 그 생활적 스트레스를 해소하는 과정 과 빈익빈 부익부 현상이 주는 SNS 카페인 우울증이 그 예이다. 카페인 우울증 이란 카카오톡, 페이스북 , 인스타그램 등 SNS 에서 나타나는 현상으로 세상에서 나만 제일 불행한것같다고 느끼는 소외감으로서 누구는 명품으로 치장하고 비싸고 근사한 곳에서 식사를 하며 사진을 올리고 하는데 나는 왜 이리 궁핍하게 사아가고 있을까 라는 사이버상의 스트레스성 우울증이라고 볼수 있다.
재미있는 사실은몇년전 시사IN에서 올린 기사내용인데 이미 500년전인 1518년 7월, 독일과 프랑스 접경 지역인 스트라스부르에서도 400명이 감염된 춤바람 현상이 있었다는 사실이다. 그 시작은 결혼 생활에 문제가 있었던 것으로 추측되는 한 여성으로부터였다. 당시 여러 기록에 따르면, 7월14일 트로페아(Troffea) 부인이 거리에 나와서 갑자기 춤을 추기 시작했다. 배경음악은 당연히 없었고, 그저 춤을 추었을 따름이다. 보다 못한 남편은 아내에게 그만하라고 간청했으나 그녀는 남편을 무시하고 춤을 멈추지 않았다.
다음 날에도 그 부인은 거리에 나왔다. 사흘째 이유 없는 춤사위를 반복하니 다른 사람들도 몰려와 그녀와 함께 춤을 추기 시작했다. ‘집단 춤’은 일주일 넘게 계속되었고 보다 못한 당국이 개입하기에 이르렀다. 트로페아 부인은 스트라스부르에서 30마일 떨어진 곳에 있는 성비투스 성당으로 보내졌다. 치료 명목이었다. 트로페아 부인에게 전염된 상태로 춤을 추는 이들은 여전히 많았고, 춤추는 장소를 따로 만들어주면 스스로 지치지 않겠는가 하는 발상도 나와서 당국은 춤추는 홀을 마련해주기도 했다. 춤은 점점 더 전염됐다. 기록에 따르면 한 달 사이 400명이 전염됐다. 당국은 댄스홀을 폐쇄하고 결혼식 같은 예외적인 행사 외에는 아예 춤을 금지했다.
스트라스부르의 춤 전염은 한 달 정도 지속되었다고 한다. 원인은 무엇이었을까? 저조한 수확, 불안한 정치, 매독의 출현 등 여러 정치·사회적 문제가 발작적인 춤으로 이어졌다는 게 ‘정설’이긴 하다. 비슷한 현상이 1960년대 탄자니아에서도 있었다고 하는데, 현대의 사례를 들자면 ‘레이브 파티’가 아닐까 싶다. 물론 최근 개봉한 영화 〈미드소마〉(2019)에 나오는, 모두가 쓰러지고 한 명만 남을 때까지 추는 춤도 이 ‘전설의 춤바람’의 명맥을 잇는다고 할 수 있다.
우리는 다음과 같은 질문으로 지인들과 함께 토론을 해보면 어떨가 생각한다.
